What it is: Journal clubs can be daunting. There is much more to a journal article than the abstract (surprise). Healthcare professionals must know how to interpret, analyze, and apply the nitty-gritty details of clinical trials and medical literature. This How-To guide is your helping hand in the what, how, and why to help you ace your next journal club presentation with confidence.

Why it can benefit you: The key part of the journal club is answering the question “How does this apply to clinical practice?” To formulate a recommendation, you need to know what each article section means and what key aspects to look for (hint: baseline demographics, type of outcomes, subgroup analyses, number needed to treat/harm, generalizability). It is one thing to be able to state this information, and another to be able to apply it to your patient population.
